Flip profit calculator: eBay, Reverb and Marketplace fees (UK)
Enter what you'd pay and what it'll sell for. See the fees, postage, your profit and the most to offer. Free, and nothing you type leaves this page.
How the selling fees work
| Where you sell | Fee the seller pays |
|---|---|
| Facebook Marketplace, collection | None |
| eBay UK, private seller | None on most items. The buyer pays eBay's Buyer Protection fee on top. |
| eBay UK, business seller | 10.9% + 0.35% regulatory fee on the buyer's total (postage included), + 40p per order. Most music gear; a few categories differ. |
| Reverb | 5% + about 3.19% + 25p payment processing, on the buyer's total. |
eBay and Reverb charge on the total, postage included. Offering free postage? Enter the item price and put the courier cost under postage.
Don't forget postage
Postage is where flips quietly lose money. Get a courier quote for the boxed size and weight before you list, and allow for packing. Amps, speakers, keyboards and drum kits cost more to send than you'd think, so they usually sell better as collection-only.
What counts as a good flip
The verdict uses the same rules as the flipper extension:
- Great flip: it meets your target return and makes at least £30, and the price is not just flipper's own low-confidence estimate.
- Worth it: at least half your target return and £15 profit, or £60 profit at a 15% return or better.
- Marginal: a little profit, with not much room for error.
- Skip: no profit at that price.
The most you can pay still hits your target return after fees, postage and repairs. It's your ceiling, not your opening offer.
Where to get the sale price
Use what it actually sells for, not what people are asking. eBay's sold listings are the best free source. The used gear price guide has UK ranges for popular models, and best music gear to flip covers what sells fast.
Do this on every listing, automatically
The flipper Chrome extension runs these sums on every Marketplace listing you open: exact model, real sold prices, faults and the most to offer. Free while in testing. Join the testers.
