Shure SM7B vs Rode PodMic: used prices compared

UK used prices side by side, what each one tends to need fixing, and which keeps more of its value. Updated October 2026.

Quick answer: Used, the Rode PodMic is the cheaper of the two: £45 to £70 against £150 to £230 for the Shure SM7B, usually about £130 apart. The ranges do not overlap, so the cheaper model is cheaper in any condition.

The difference

Both are dynamic vocal mics on the same shortlist for podcasts, streaming and voiceover. The SM7B is the broadcast standard and it is quiet: it needs real gain from the interface, and often an inline booster, to reach a working level. The PodMic costs a fraction as much, is heavier than it needs to be, and is easier to drive. Neither needs batteries, and neither forgives a weak preamp.
